Dresden Destroyed Poem
In the heart of Europe, once stood a city
With buildings grand and streets so pretty But war's ruthless hand came knocking And Dresden's fate was set for shocking
The sky was black with death's cold breath As bombs fell from the sky like a raining death The city burned, the flames licked high And in the midst of chaos, many did die
The once-beautiful city was destroyed Its people killed, its streets devoid Of life and laughter, of joy and light All that remained was a ghostly sight
The grand buildings, the art, the culture Reduced to rubble, a brutal rupture Of a city once so proud and free Now just a memory, lost to history
But from the ashes, hope did rise As Dresden's people looked to the skies And vowed to rebuild, to rise again And honor those lost in war's cruel game
Today, Dresden stands tall once more A testament to the human spirit's core To rise above the ashes, to never forget And to rebuild, with hope and respect.
