YouTube's unethical practices
YouTube's unethical practices that fuel division are deeply concerning. While the platform has undoubtedly revolutionized the way we consume and share content, it has also inadvertently become a breeding ground for polarization and disinformation. One of the most glaring issues is the algorithm-driven recommendation system, which tends to prioritize sensational and extreme content to keep users engaged, often leading them down rabbit holes of extremist ideologies or divisive viewpoints.
Furthermore, YouTube's inconsistent content moderation policies have allowed harmful and misleading content to proliferate on the platform, contributing to the spread of misinformation, hate speech, and conspiracy theories. This not only undermines the quality of discourse but also threatens social cohesion and democracy itself.
It's imperative that YouTube takes a more proactive and responsible stance in addressing these issues. This includes refining its algorithms to prioritize accurate and balanced content, implementing stricter content moderation measures, and fostering a more transparent and accountable ecosystem. Only by acknowledging and rectifying these unethical practices can YouTube hope to mitigate the division it has inadvertently fostered.
